The community of Puerto Juan (Shinguito) in the Morona River basin mobilized a group of 12 people, with high participation from women, to manage the project component of Paiche fish repopulation. The group conducted a Paiche census in their oxbow lake using the plot method with buoys. This method involves visual and auditory counting of juvenile and adult fish buoyed. A total of 81 specimens were recorded (24 juveniles and 57 adults). Officials from the Regional Directorate of Production, Loreto, as well as a delegation of students from the National University of the Peruvian Amazon, participated in this exercise.
