The Conference of Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15) begins on 7 December in Montreal. This is a crucial year as the aim of COP15 is to finalise and adopt the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), which will set the global targets for living in harmony with nature and mitigating biodiversity loss.

FPP will be supporting the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) at COP15, who will be working to ensure that indigenous peoples and local community rights and contributions to conserving and sustainably using biodiversity are recognised and included in the Post-2020 GBF. IIFB and allies will be hosting side events that highlight the importance of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities rights, as well as participating in panels of events organised by international and national NGOs and governments. They will also be organising press conferences and statements of their lists of demands for the Post-2020 GBF, as well as proposing specific changes to the text.
